I2G kicked it with Mav and Big Haps for a exclusive interview. Fresh off the heels of Mav completing his mixtape in a day project, he talks about the process and the motivation behind it. There with him every step of the way, Big Haps also talks about the project and the fans response as it was recorded and broadcast on Ustream. We also talk about future projects and much more so check it out.

Illuminati 2G is here with Mav & Big Haps how’s it going?

Mav: Im just out here Independent Hustlin fam. I just put out the intro to Mixtape in a day that I got from Chingo Bling. Now I am just waiting on the art so I can set a release date for the mixtape.

BH: Whats good mayne? Just pushing the ASH Music brand, Blessed, great to be a part of this AZ history.

Yessir, let’s get right into it. Last week you completed your mixtape project entitled Mixtape In A Day. How did you guys come up with the concept?

Mav: Man, I just wanted to do something different. I just felt that it would be something dope to watch, hear, and be a part of. I know I can beast up and can drop songs all day but I never challenged my self this much on a project. I called up the homie Big Haps and history was made! This project means alot to me. Two days after I recorded this project my best friend died. This mixtape is going to be dedicated to him. I first started rapping with my homie back in the days. RIP Kino G!

BH: The mixtape was all MAV’s idea and concept. I was just glad to be apart of it. I mean as far as our state is concerned, I dont think anyone has done such a thing. And if they have, it definitely wasnt done on Ustream. I think its an amazing accomplishment to get that done in one day. Think about it…

Sorry to hear about your friend Mav.You had the live feed of the recording of the songs on Ustream, what was the fans response to the mixtape?

Mav: I wasn’t expecting such a good response. I have never used Ustream before and me and big haps were able to get a few hundred people to tune in throughout the day. I really wanted it there just so people can come back and watch the footage after they listen to the mixtape and see how it was made. Also so people dont think Im bullshitting them lol

BH: Fan response was great. I think more people tuned in then what me and Mav thought. We kept setting goals to reach as far as #’s, we above what we though would have happened.

Any funny moments or stories during the recording process?

BH: Man, the whole thing was a great time, hard to pin point something particular, but I know we were focused and busy working. Im sure if you peep the tapes, there are some laughs.

Mav who is set to appear on the tape other than Big Haps?

Mav :I wanted to just keep the features limited to mcees repping the Southwest. I wanted to go with the hungriest mcees out here. I got some dope features from Chingo bling, Romero of Clicka one, META, Da Beast, Gmoe, Lil v of AZ hustlers, Rideout, Stern Savage, Bstaks, Syck Syllables, Boss and more.

Haps so when we gonna see you doing your mixtape in a day?

BH: Haha, man, that will happen when I can find a person dumb enough to record me. Lol, naw but who knows. Im very busy running ASH Music, so maybe that will be the way to go.

Do you have any videos set to drop from the project?

Mav: Not just yet. I am actually still filming videos from my official album that I dropped this year called “Independent Hustlin”. Next week i’m filming the video to the song Mav “Me against the world”. Google it and check it out! I’ll probably film a few street videos to this mixtape.

What is next for you guys after the mixtape?

Mav: Im working on an album with the homie Chingo bling thats set to drop in 2k11. I also got a mixtape and a compilation album planned for 2k11 so stay tuned for that!

BH: Im working on my next mixtape “Daddy WarBucks” should be set to drop Feb 2011.

What are your thoughts on Arizona hip hop right now?

BH: There is a tremendous amount of talent, but there is no unity. Its not like there are camps at each others necks, but there is a lot of segregation in the state and city (Phoenix). Peeps need to work together. Going to be a long road, but people know who’s who in the scene. There also is a limited amount of DJ’s that support our scene the way they should. Shit needs to change.

Mav: Everybody raps out here man. I mean everybody nerds, strippers, gas station attendants, and rich kids. Since no one is really holding that nationwide number one spot for Arizona everybody things they have a shot at the title. This is why nobody supports anybody but their homies and them selves. Dont get me wrong I still get mines in and I pushed over 4k copies of Independent husltin in the past few months but theres still a long way to go. Im always in the streets so I hear all these people talk mad shit about the top AZ rappers. I just shake my head and tell them to support anyways or well never see Phoenix hip hop where we want to see it. On the top! I also own the biggest AZ hip hop site. Check out www.phoenixhiphop.net and you can see all the talented mcees we have out here.

Any shows coming up for either of you?

BH: To be honest, Im not focused on local shows right now. There was a time when I

was doing shows 3 or 4 times a month. It’s not beneficial to me at this point unless it’s a headlining act and the business end of it is right.

Mav: I stay doing shows in and out of town. Some that I can think of off the top is that I got a show with Ras Kass Dec 10th and I’m performing at the Istandard producer showcase December 13th n 14th with Rockwilder, Dame Grease, Willy Northpole, LEP bogus boys and more.

We sit down with New ASH Music artist Bastard Chylde all the way out in Philly and get a better insight about who he is and what he brings to the table. Check it out!

Can you give our readers a little bit of background?

I'm Bastard Chylde I'm from west Philly in the overbrook section, I been a hip hop head since i was 7 years old listening to artists such as kool g rap,dj polo, big daddy kane, rakim, allah x clan, chub rock and Kool Moe Dee i was inspired to make music. Loving all kinds of music including R&B and disco I watched and learned how to express myself like how different artist do. My background is always gonna be a part of me but at the same time its the past and I'm keep it moving forward in the present at the same time taking parts of my past and expressing it through my music.

How did you guys come up with the name of your guys' group?

I'm not in a group but i got my name Bastard Chylde from not really having a father figure in my life at all, well i cant really say at all but my real father never was in my life so hence I'm a Bastard.

How did you guys meet each other?

I met the ASH Music family on my second trip out to Arizona, and when it happened I felt like i was right at home. I grew up in West Philly with Stern Savage and he is the big bro ,so if he was cool wit them i didn't see any problem with me not getting along with them.

Tell the readers about your goals as a artist?

Well right now I'm the "New Guy", so what I'm trying do is give my voice a face through promotion of my music weather its on the net, the street, at the mall or at a show. I also try to let people know that the voice you hear and love is me believe it or not and I'm no different then you so i want to make music for you.

What projects do you have out now?

ight now i have no projects out but my debut street album "Beware Of Monster" will be dropping early spring but  just trying to do things rite since this will be my first project I'm every dropping. So far I have a lot of great people on this street album from the Arizona area such as Odie, Stern Savage, Mav, Big Haps ,The Crooks plus many other artists..so look out for that Bastard Chylde- Beware of Monster

What are you working on right now?

Right now I'm working on my street album which is called Beware Of Monster which should be out spring 2011. Along with that I'm working on getting my name out there and getting some buzz since I am the new guy. Also I working on my catalog since I am also a tattoo artist. So if any of you people out there looking for some ink hit me up but please serious people only LOL.

What can we expect on the new mixtape, and which producers are you working with?

You can expect 100% of Bastard Chylde nothing watered down, and as far as producers go you are all just gonna have to grab the street album and see for yourself i promise all the beats are ill and the wordplay is sick..

How would you describe your style?

My style is very straight to the point strict i guess. I just let my brain depict whats next style wise, and my voice seems to be a big part that sticks out in my music because its very raw gritty and dark.

Now you don't see a lot of artists coming out of Arizona. How do you hope to change that?

I'm new in town but if Arizona is where i get my big break then i'm gonna put the AZ on the map along with never forgetting where i came from West Philly all day..

Do you hope to sign to a major label in the future?

Right now I'm just focus on making a name for myself and putting music out there. If a major label deal was putt on the table I'm sure its something that I will look into and signing but again before I can even think about that I want drop my street album Beware of Monster and give everyone a taste of what is coming.

Do you have any plans for any upcoming shows or tours in 2011?

Only time will tell what shows i book and as far as touring I'm hoping that by the summer time I can have a few mini tours lined up
